Representative Garballey Supports:
- The conference committee proposal, allocating $227,802,533 for special education and special education needs. Within this line item, there is fundamental spending initiative of $2,000,000 regarding transportation of students with special needs in collaboration with the communities to help alleviate some of the financial burden. Reliable transportation will enable a community to provide equal educational opportunities for all their students.
- The earmark for $200,000 for the New England Center for Children, Inc. as appropriated in the House budget. This will facilitate medical aid and support for children with autism up to the age of 18.
- The proposed appropriation of $43,936,049 for early intervention for autism spectrum disorders. This will help families struggling with providing services to their children in these most important years. This line item with help maintain current Early Intervention eligibility standards and offer further financial support for families in need.
