Yesterday, Representative Garballey joined Governor Patrick, Senator Donnelly, Public Safety officials, and others at the Central Fire Station in Arlington to help announce Governor Patrick’s new federal funding plan. The stimulus plan targets Fire Departments across Massachusetts in an attempt to re-hire personnel that were laid off due to recent budget cuts. The plan includes $20 million in federal funds, a portion of which will also go to the police departments. In Massachusetts alone 112 firefighters and 118 police officers have been laid off due to recent budget cuts. Representative Garballey wants to thank Governor Patrick for coming to Arlington and looks forward to continuing work on the economic recovery.
